Water - come back, we miss you!

Water...you forget how much you use it until you don't have it anymore.

We woke up this morning to no water at all in our apartment...it's 3:30PM and still no water...sure hope it's back on by morning. Our translator told us that this happens often and sometimes the water could be turned off for days. Lovely.

Yesterday we found a little backpack for D. We gave it to him today and you wouldn't believe how happy it makes a kid to have their own backpack. He couldn't get over that it was his and wore it for our entire visit! He would only take it off to go through the entire contents, again, and then put everything back into the backpack and put it back on. It was cute.

Once we get there in the mornings, we typically go to his house to pick him up and then go to the library to play. Today he was waiting for us in front of the library. The teacher in the library told us he had been there all morning, waiting for his mama & papa. He told the teacher that he loved us and that we come to play with him every morning.

We are becoming a normal fixture at the orphange and everyone knows who we are. We've been visiting with D for a month now, every single day. We've been having a ton of fun with him here, but we are ready to be home!

Anxiously awaiting tomorrow's meeting with the judge and the water to be turned back on...

PS - Apparently Sadie is getting plenty of water while we are away! My dad sent me this pic of her having some fun at their pool!

Reading about your jorney brings me so much joy. We too had a much extended visitation period because of paperwork and I know how frustrating it can be. You have a great attitude about it which is good. The nice thing is you will never again have such time to strickly focus on getting to know each other. Once you have custody you add in all the other pieces of life which can become overwhelming fast. These days of just visiting are really a blessing. I am keeping everything crossed for your visit with the judge. If you need anything our Exchange student's mother is a lawyer there and I belive his father works in the department that issues passports and other documents. My e-mail is deckerkmjd@yahoo.com

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and praying that everything goes great with the judge tomorrow and that you guys can get a court date very, very soon! It sounds like you are having a great time with your kiddo, as is he. That is too cute hearing how he was waiting for you this morning. :)
I can also commiserate on the no water situation. We made it for two months without any problems. And then the morning of Gotcha Day, wouldn't you know it - no water! Apparently there were signs posted but of course with our very basic Russian we didn't really catch on. So we looked a little bit greasy for all our Gotcha Day pics. LOL I was excited to pick up our kiddo and then go to our new apartment so I could shower! :)
I just love how your enthusiasm is so evident in each post.
Take care,
Tanya

haha..
The water thing brings back memories. We also lost water on Gotcha day. We had a new 2 yr. old who was mad that no one could understand her, and who, in spite of what they told us, was not potty trained. We sat her in front of cartoons on her brothers pillow and she had diarrhea (American food) on her brother's pillow and I turned the water on to start washing that up and...no water. It stayed off for hours! Very bad news! But funny memories...

Enjoy this time; you'll have these memories forever.

Your attitude is great! When we had a difficult time finding our child the first 10 days I was so upset I hardly posted anything. you have remained positive and I'm impressed! Now your journey has paid off with a wonderful little boy! He seems so sweet and excited to come to America. It is bitter sweet with him having an understanding of what is going on but then sad because of the friends he will leave. Will you stay after court or come home and go back after the waiting period? It is amazing how he has learned to trust that you will come each day and how much pride he takes in having his own belongings. You guys are awesome!
