Our paperwork is finally in Kazakhstan!

Hey everyone! Dustin and I received this update from our agency yesterday and we wanted to share!! We are so excited & relieved that things are moving along! Keep us in your thoughts!

Love,
Cortney & Dustin

Hi Cortney,

I am pleased to confirm for you that your dossier has been released by the Consulate. It has arrived in Kazakhstan and been logged in with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

You can anticipate the next steps as follows:
--From the MFA review one of three things can occur – a dossier can be rejected, accepted or additional documents may be requested by the MFA authorities.
--Once reviewed and accepted, your dossier will be registered with the Ministry of Education (MOE) for review.
--From the MOE review, again, one of three things can occur – a dossier can be rejected, accepted or additional documents may be requested by the MOE authorities.
--Once accepted, your dossier will be assigned to the Regional Department of Education (DOE) for the issuance of your Letter of Invitation (LOI). NOTE: Overall, the estimated processing time for your dossier to move through all of the ministries is approximately 3-4 months until the LOI is issued.
--The LOI will allow the in-country team to request your visa confirmation number and then being planning your travel arrangements. NOTE: The time frame from LOI until travel is estimated at approximately 3-4 weeks.
**It is rare for a dossier to be rejected, but it is a possibility.

Flexibility in necessary in international adoption because unexpected delays may be experienced at any point in the process. Currently, the overall processing time families are experiencing for their dossier to move through all of the ministries is approximately 6 months.

Thank you for your patience. When we received status report about the progress of your dossier as it moves to the Ministry of Education, the government authority that oversees intercountry adoption in Kazakhstan, we will update you.

Warmest regards,
Robin

Move Dossier Move!!!!

I hope you have smooth sailing through Kaz.

Have you heard any news from your agency about the gender preference issues in Kaz?

Some dossiers from CHI have been rejected because the homestudy states a preference for gender. My agency hasn't been able to confirm it yet. My homestudy doesn't state a preference so I am okay.
Some of are saying the rejected dossiers have to be redone & start the process all over. I would hope an updated homestudy would take care of it but my agency hasn't received any news yet.

My agency said last week that their contacts haven't heard anything in Kaz about the dossiers being rejected because of gender preferences. They are requiring anyone who is not in Kaz to change their homestudy if they had a preference so maybe they are anticipating a problem later. We have heard if you are already in Kaz then it will be okay. I don't know there seems to be a lot of mixed signals. Hopefully after Sept 15th Kaz will have all the new requirements straight & the process will run smoother. I think Kaz is having a few growing pains with the numbers of people trying to adopt. It must be overwhelming for them too!!!!

SO glad you have made it to the next step. I know there are quite a few of us sitting on a desk somewhere in KAZ! OUr children may be playing together as we write! Sortta exciting to think of it like that.

I was a bit worried with all of the changes going on. BUt trust our agency to keep things going for us.

Keep the faith... keep being flexible. It all works out in the end.
Tracy
