Reunited!!

It's official - D is the best kid ever!  When we first saw him today he was playing outside and came right to us when he saw us and gave big hugs & kisses all around.  He had a HUGE smile on his face for the first 30 minutes or so and wanted us to hold him, hug him orhold his hand.  He told us that he missed us very much and that he loved us.  He is such a sweet boy.  We spoke with his caregiver and he was good while we are away; no major incidents.  She said that he missed us very much, but that he didn't cry.  Every night before he went to bed he asked to see the 2 photo albums that we left for him and he would look through every photo. His caregiver told us that doing this helped him to feel better.  She said that he talked about us all the time and showed any guest in his house all of the pictures.  He also told everyone that he has a new dog, Sadie, and would tell stories about what they were going to do.  He didn't ask for the car once!  We showed up with a new remote control jeep that we picked up on the way to see him, but since it hadn't been charged it only worked for about 5 minutes.  He was perfectly fine with us taking back to the apartment to charge it.  It seems like his trust is even better now after this experience.  We had a great visit with him today and we feel so much better about everything.  It's the simple things in life that puts everything else into perspective.  (Missing baggage seems like small potatoes!)

After our visit, we went shopping for the items needed for court. I felt terrible dragging around Dustin and our translator (who is 8 months pregnant) looking for things.  After several hours, we finally rounded up everything needed for tomorrow.  We met with our lawyer and went over everything that will happen at court tomorrow and prepared for all of the questions.  We have a lot of homework, but everything should still be fine.  We feel confident, but don't really know what to expect.  Like all things we do, we'll just see what happens and go with the flow.  You can't stop the Stone's.

Baggage Update -
Luggage is still MIA...it was supposedly on a flight to Yemen last night that has landed, but the system has not been updated yet.  No one seems to know what's going on...

Too much going on right now...we need to get through tomorrow and hope for news on the luggage soon.

Love,
Cort & Dust

PS - Did we mention how amazingly awesome D is!  What a trooper; we couldn't be more proud of him!

Hi
We e-mailed last year and right before you left as we adopted our daughter from Petro last spring. I just wanted to tell you that I have followed your blog and have been amazed at your endurance and perseverance despite a rocky course. "D" will be lucky to have you two as parents, and vise versa. Best wishes!

I have been following your blog for the last few months and just wanted to say best of luck tomorrow in court. I have loved reading about your adoption journey, we are in Ireland and waiting to submit our dossier to the Embassy in London so we can adopt from Kaz in the not too distant future.

Dying for the updates in the next few days. Good luck guys.

I am sending your family good court vibes. I am so glad that y'all had such a good reunion with D. I love reading your story as we dive into an older child adoption. I am so impressed how y'all have shifted into gear and done all the right things to get your family going. Keep up the fighting spirit. More kids around the world need people like you.

No worries about court....the judge will know how very much D belongs with you! I remember being so worried before our interview....but finally realizing that we just had to be ourselves and speak honestly about how we felt about our little guy! It will be obvious....
