Court Update
First of all, so sorry for the delay in updating everyone! We finished up court about 5:30 and were back home, in bed & asleep by 6:00. It was a very exhausting day! Gotta love jet-lag!
All in all, we feel that our court hearing went well. Our case is unique and we did have some hurdles, but we think that we answered/explained everything to the judge’s liking. Our court hearing was about 3 hours long and very intense. There were 8 people besides Dustin and I that had to testify. Everyone that testified supported Dustin and I adopting D. The judge requested some more paperwork that she would like to review this week and she would like to make her final ruling next Monday the 14th of June. The paperwork that she wants seems to be more of covering her back than to aid in making her decision. I think she wants an extra large file on us to avoid any chance of her decision being appealed. We feel ok about how everything went and don’t see how she wouldn’t rule in our favor, but until we hear the words, we will be worried. It is so hard for us to explain how we feel about this and so much of our journey to adopt D. It’s just unexplainable… We love this little boy so much and can’t imagine an unfavorable ruling from the judge. If we do get a no, then we will appeal the decision and go down that very hard & treacherous path.
If the judge rules in our favor on Monday, then the 15 day appeal period will begin on Tuesday. Once the appeal period is complete, the paperwork out-processing begins. If everything goes to plan, then we hope to have D home, in Texas, by mid-July. But, we all know how “plans” go over here in Kaz!
We were up early this morning working and we will go visit D about 10:00. Can’t wait! We didn’t get to see him yesterday because of court and we miss that little guy!
Luggage Update –
Still no luggage. We’re being told that our luggage finally made it to Astana! It was supposed to arrive in Pavlodar late last night, but for some reason it didn’t. We are now being told that it will arrive on the plane here tonight about 6:00…we will see!
Crossing our fingers & our toes until Monday’s decision!
Love,

PS – To all the Kaz families out there in any stage – if we can be of any help explaining our situation and what we’ve learned on our journey so far, feel free to email us. We have met some families along the way that have been so amazing, helpful, supportive & understanding. We can only hope to help someone by a fraction of what we’ve received. To all of you – THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! We’ve survived some very hard times with your knowledge, love & support and KNOW that we will still need you in the future!

You are still very much in our thoughts as you await this decision. Are ya'll planning on staying there until you bring him home? I hope everything goes smoothly for you. You deserve something simle and strait forward in the process. D sounds like he is worth it all though.
