Friday in Pavlodar

We started having some internet troubles yesterday and had to look into it with the internet company. Long story short, our apartment wasn’t signed up for an unlimited plan and we had already used our allotted time. What we have now is slightly faster than dial-up but nothing great. We are looking into Plan B…whatever that might be. Ideally, we would love to stay in Kaz after the court decision on Monday until we can finally bring D home. The problem is that we just have to have high speed internet so that we can continue to work. Another month of not working just won’t cut it. Hoping that we can figure out another situation soon… Not even officially a “mom” yet and life gets that much harder trying to figure out the right balance of family, work, home! D is depending on us and needs us, but so does everyone else!

Several children wanted to join us during our visit with D today. It’s really hard for us when this happens because we don’t get to spend the one-on-one time with D and we typically don’t have enough fun things for 6 kids to do! Luckily, we brought a movie in Russian today so that entertained them for most of the time. D got upset once and told us that he was offended. He doesn’t love the idea of sharing time with his mama & papa!!! The translator and I talked to him for a while and he was just fine after that. It’s a hard spot because all of the children crave so much attention. Towards the end of our visit after getting a chance to cool down from the summer’s heat, we went outside to play some basketball. D loved to be picked up so he could slam dunk and dangle on the rim. One sure way to get him down was to tickle his sides! We left today on a good note; all the kids got to take home a ball or toy of their own.
